nothing comes close
nothing is nearly as good
You say nothing comes close when no other person or thing is nearly as good as the one you are comparing it with.
Hear it in real life
Have you found a better hiking trail?
No, nothing comes close to that one.
I have tried plenty of coffee shops, but nothing comes close to the one near my office.
The mistake everyone makes
Not: Nothing comes close than the coffee shop near my office.
Say: Nothing comes close to the coffee shop near my office.
The comparison pattern is “come close to,” not “come close than.”
Build it
How it fits in a sentence.
nothing comes close to something; nothing else comes close
Your turn: say it out loud
I have tried plenty of coffee shops, but nothing comes close to the one near my office.
Say it out loud two or three times, until it feels like yours.
nothing comes close
nothing is nearly as good
“I have tried plenty of coffee shops, but nothing comes close to the one near my office.”
