Daily life
not stick
fail to become a lasting habit
If a plan or habit does not stick, it does not continue or become a lasting part of your routine.
Hear it in real life
Are you still doing that morning workout?
No, it didn't stick after the first week.
I made a few New Year's resolutions, but none of them really stuck.
The mistake everyone makes
Not: My new routine didn't stay.
Say: My new routine didn't stick.
Use stick for a plan or habit that continues successfully; stay does not have this meaning here.
Build it
How it fits in a sentence.
doesn't stick; didn't stick
Your turn: say it out loud
I made a few New Year's resolutions, but none of them really stuck.
Say it out loud two or three times, until it feels like yours.
